In the Year of the Small Homeland, Vitebsk region will pay special attention to the improvement of settlements

In the Year of the Small Motherland, special attention will be paid to the improvement of rural settlements and their adjacent territories. This was announced at a briefing by Marina Galich, Head of the Department of the Regional Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.

In particular, more than 430 vacant and dilapidated houses will be demolished, and over 220 km of road surfaces of streets, driveways, and roads will be improved.

The arrangement and repair will affect agricultural facilities, public transport stops, wells, and water towers. It is planned to decommission 46 mini-landfills for solid municipal waste. The greatest changes will occur in the urban-type settlements of Ezerishche (Gorodok district) and Bolbasovo (Orsha district). A significant amount of work will be carried out in Verkhnedvinsk region in preparation for "Dazhynki-2018".

For measures to control the spread and population of Sosnowsky hogweed, a significant amount of 310 thousand rubles has been allocated from the regional budget to 12 districts and Vitebsk for the first time for the purchase of herbicides for chemical treatment. Local budgets and land users will spend almost as much on combating the green aggressor in the most effective way. 830 hectares, or 40% of the total growth area, will be subjected to chemical treatment.

In the first two months of this year, the environmental service, as part of the control over the restoration of order on the land, identified more than 800 violations of environmental legislation and eliminated 99 unauthorized landfills. The total amount of fines amounted to 20.5 thousand rubles.
