В городах Витебской области появятся улицы, закрытые для мотоциклистов в ночное время
In major cities of the Vitebsk region, it is planned to compile lists of streets where motorcyclist movement will be prohibited at night, reported Vladimir Bonadyisenko, head of the traffic police department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate.

In major cities of the Vitebsk region, it is planned to compile lists of streets where motorcyclist movement will be prohibited at night, Vladimir Bonadyisenko, head of the traffic police department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate, told a BELTA correspondent.

"Road signs prohibiting the movement of motorcycle transport at night will be installed in Vitebsk, Polotsk, and Orsha. The streets are yet to be determined. In Vitebsk, it is Lenin Street; Moskovsky Prospekt and Frunze Prospekt are also being considered. We will work, and violators will be fined. Although there are problems, for example, with pursuing and stopping such vehicles," explained Vladimir Bonadyisenko.

Deputy Head of the Department Alexander Samul added that preventive measures are currently being carried out with motorcyclists, so far in the form of communication: "If, with the onset of the warm season, there is no understanding from their side and complaints from the public follow, we will resort to more serious measures. We will also involve law-abiding motorcyclists who assist the traffic police in their work."

The traffic police ask the public to report motorcyclists who violate rules and public order, providing more precise information, including the registration number. "We have already made a proposal to the republic to introduce liability for the owner of the vehicle (motorcycle) for violating traffic rules. Perhaps this will somehow influence them," said Vladimir Bonadyisenko.

Every day, 10-15 units of motorcycle transport are registered in the region, but these are mainly mopeds and scooters in rural areas. Therefore, for now, restrictions on motorcycle transport movement will only affect major cities.
