In Gorodok, a father tortured his disabled son

A criminal case has been initiated in Horadok against a 68-year-old resident of the district center. His son, a person with a Group I disability, contacted the police. The 34-year-old man endured his father's cruel treatment for a long time, but eventually could not stand it anymore.

Maxim Zinovich, Deputy Prosecutor of Horadok District, states:

– For the past year, the pensioner has been heavily abusing alcoholic beverages. He spent both his pension and the disability benefits paid by the state to his son. A few years ago, the young man became a victim of a road traffic accident and is confined to a wheelchair. Therefore, he could not defend himself. In a drunken state, the father resorted to physical violence, beating the helpless person.

Investigators have established several instances of physical violence: the parent pulled the disabled person by the hair, and hit him on the head with a plastic bucket and an enamel pot.

He faces a penalty of imprisonment for up to 5 years. The son will be taken under the care of the social services.
