In Gorodok, a police sergeant rescued a pensioner from a fire
A police sergeant rescued a paralyzed pensioner from a fire in Horadok, as reported by Vitaly Sapronenko, an inspector of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
The fire in the apartment building for the elderly, veterans, and disabled of the Department for Labor, Employment, and Social Protection of the Horadok District Executive Committee occurred on the evening of April 26. The report of the incident was received by the Horadok District Department of Internal Affairs. Upon arrival at the scene, police officer-driver Anton Reut (who was on a call near the fire scene) discovered the source of the fire in an apartment on the first floor – an electric heater in the bed of a paralyzed man born in 1943 had caught fire. Before the arrival of rescuers, the police officer extinguished the source of the fire (doused the mattress, heater, and bedding) and provided first aid to the victim, who was hospitalized with burns in the surgical department of the Horadok Central District Hospital. "The sergeant saved the passport, money, and mobile phone from the fire and returned them to the owner," said Vitaly Sapronenko.
