The Gorodok Agricultural and Technical College will be able to service and repair agricultural machinery

A workshop for the maintenance and repair of agricultural machinery was opened today at the Gorodok State Agrarian-Technical College within the educational institution's resource center.

The resource center acts as a structural unit of the educational institution. Conditions have been created here for students to acquire educational programs of industrial training, practice, and gain skills in operating modern equipment while mastering educational programs.

Yuri Sorochinsky, the college engineer, said that after the workshop was put into operation, the educational institution's capabilities significantly expanded. "Modern machine tools are installed here, which allow for high-quality and precise repair of engines. There are also machines for grinding cylinder blocks and heads, equipment for hydraulic testing of heads, valve milling, and a machine for dismounting heavy-duty tires," the specialist noted.

Gorodok College plans to repair tractor and automotive engines for agricultural enterprises in the district and the region in the future. This will be cheaper for organizations, and students will gain experience and hone their skills. Part of the earned money will be spent on the further development of the workshops. In addition, when providing paid services, young people will earn money, which will be a good addition to their scholarships. "In addition to obtaining the standard qualification of a 'mechanic for repairing agricultural machinery and equipment,' with new equipment, we will be able to provide students with such working professions as vulcanizer and pneumatic clutch assembler. The guys are gradually starting to master new machines, and our experienced teachers will help them with this," added Yuri Sorochinsky.

Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, noted that there is a shortage of good specialists in the agro-industrial complex, which is why the focus is on young people. "Every year, the college improves in terms of technology, provision of modern equipment, and, most importantly, in the acquisition of knowledge and practical skills by students. If students only see a tractor engine on a stand or in a cutaway, we will never get a professional. A few years ago, we agreed that to train a highly qualified specialist, they need to be given good knowledge, practice, and the opportunity to improve their skills directly in production at the best agricultural enterprises in the region. We do something in this direction every year," said the governor. A new workshop is a very necessary thing, not every college or university has one. Now the educational institution needs to earn money by repairing machinery, and it is important that the equipment pays for itself, emphasized Nikolai Sherstnev.

The Gorodok Agricultural Technical College employs 106 educators and educates 810 students. Annually, 100% of young specialists are assigned to their first jobs.-0-
