The best young biathletes in the country gathered in the Horadok district

As usual, in mid-summer, the battle for the next Belarusian Biathlon Federation Cup begins. It involves boys and girls born between 2004 and 2011, representing the teams of the regions, Minsk, and the Novopolotsk Olympic Reserve School (pupils of the experimental group, which includes the most promising young athletes, compete for this institution).

This season, the organizers decided to open the competition on the roller ski track in Gorodok. Over 150 young athletes gathered there. They were offered to test their skills in two types of races – mass start and pursuit.

— Usually, after the mass start, we had a mixed relay. In Gorodok, we decided to try the pursuit race. I hope the athletes and fans will like this innovation, — said the chief judge of the competition, Yuri Albers. — Vitebsk region traditionally performs best in our competitions, so they were entrusted with hosting the first start of the season to please local biathlon enthusiasts.

Depending on their age, boys and girls need to cover distances from 1.8 km to 10 km, visiting the shooting range from two to four times. Athletes compete not only for individual medals but also for points for their team's total score.
