The third family-type children's home was opened in Lepel
The hosts of the comfortable housing were Irina and Alexey Petukhovs. Having their own three children, they took in two foster children and plan to take in three more. When Irina and Alexey became large-family parents in 2012, they realized that the more children there are in the family, the more love there is to share. And three years later, they took in Vladik, who was only two months old at the time. A month ago, the youngest, Nikita, joined the family at the same age.
The Petukhovs' new house has been renovated, has all the necessary furniture, a garden has been planted in the yard, and a children's playground has been equipped.
– Over 30 thousand rubles were spent on all of this, but these are small amounts for the budget when we talk about children, about them growing up in a family and in love, – noted the Chairman of the Lepel District Executive Committee, Mikhail Kiselevich, who also reported that seven children are currently in the orphanage. It is planned to open at least one more family-type children's home in the next two years.
And at the Lepel Central District Hospital, the first patients underwent examination on a new high-class ultrasound machine. 66 thousand rubles were spent on the renovation and equipping of the ultrasound room.
– This machine can diagnose cardiovascular system problems, perform ultrasounds of the heart, thyroid gland, and abdominal organs. It also has a pediatric transducer, which is very important for us, as we have been conducting ultrasound screenings of all newborns for several years, – said the chief physician of the hospital, Ilya Shendaleov.
The machine will be in use daily, as five specialists will work on it, and up to 40 patients are planned to be examined per day.
– This year, the Lepel District Hospital's X-ray room was renovated, now it's ultrasound, and a CT scanner is next in line, – noted Yuri Derkach, Head of the Main Department for Healthcare of the Regional Executive Committee, member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.
Secondary School No. 1, which is strong in students of chemical and biological profiles, received a renovated chemistry lab for the anniversary of the district center.
– Three graduates of our school this year scored 100 points on the centralized testing: Valentina Grinkevich and Karim Gaisenok in biology, and Yan Krivets in chemistry. All of them are now studying at medical universities on a state-funded basis, – shared the director of the educational institution, Oksana Kharlenok, who is confident that in the renovated classroom, students will study school subjects with even greater interest.
– Almost 100% of the graduates from this school are admitted to our university. Therefore, we would like to cooperate: let the students come to the university for classes, and the teachers of Vitebsk State Medical University will conduct outreach lessons at Lepel Secondary School No. 1, – proposed Anatoly Shchastny, Rector of Vitebsk State Medical University.
A billboard with portraits of 100-point scorers from the Lepel region was installed at the entrance to Kindergarten No. 6, where a park area with decorative bridges, benches, and an alley of maples and thuja trees has been created on the site of a former wasteland. Not only kindergarteners but also local residents can spend time pleasantly in this cozy corner.
