In the Lepel district, a drunken mother set fire to an apartment because her child was taken away from her, the press secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Marina Fando, told a BELTA correspondent. A report of a fire in an apartment in one of the houses in the village of Staroye Lyadno, Lepel district, was received on the evening of May 5 from neighbors. When the Ministry of Emergency Situations workers arrived at the scene, they discovered heavy smoke in a four-room apartment on the first floor. A drunken 34-year-old hostess was in the apartment. The woman was rescued. She was not injured in the fire. As it turned out, the woman herself was the culprit of the incident. The day before, she was drinking alcohol with her husband, and it came to a quarrel. When her husband left, the angry woman called the police. Arriving police officers found a 12-year-old boy in the apartment with the drunken mother. The child was not left in danger, and shortly thereafter, the commission for juvenile affairs decided to send him to the Lepel orphanage. This turn of events angered the drunken mother even more, and she began to threaten to set everything on fire. She carried out her threat. The woman was unable to control her behavior, and medics had to send her to a psychiatric hospital. Unfortunately, the boy will not return to the family soon. Even if his mother recovers from her addiction to alcohol, it will take a lot of time to put the apartment in order after the fire. -0-
