In the Lepel district, soil from military graves was collected into a common capsule
Participants of the campaign included representatives of government bodies, public associations, work collectives, and the military commissariat. Soil from the named pouches of each village council was poured into a common capsule, which will be kept for some time in the district local history museum.
Chairman of the district executive committee Mikhail Kiselevich noted that Belarus will soon solemnly celebrate the 75th anniversary of Victory. The echo of those terrible events pains not only the hearts of veterans but also the generations born in the post-war period. The task of young people is not to forget those years. "The campaign is dedicated to the people who, sparing no lives, defended their native land from the enemy, and sacrificed everything for the Great Victory. The duty of the living generations is to cherish the land for which fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers fought so bravely," said the head of the district.

In total, there are 51 military burial sites in Lepel district. Soil from each district of Vitebsk region will be brought to the landmark memorial complex "Proryv" (Breakthrough) in Ushachi district. The solemn event is planned to be held on May 4 or 5 – during the days of the partisans' breakthrough of the enemy encirclement.
The "In Glory of the Common Victory!" campaign is taking place throughout various parts of Belarus. Symbolic handfuls of soil are being collected from memorable sites where defenders and civilians killed in battles with the Nazi invaders are buried. The capsules with soil will be gathered in the crypt of the Church of All Saints in Minsk. It is planned that the solemn ceremony of laying the special capsules will be held on the 75th Victory Day.
