A multi-apartment building and an iron removal station have been commissioned in the Lepel district

В Лепельском районе ввели в эксплуатацию многоквартирный дом и станцию обезжелезивания
A 40-apartment residential building has been commissioned in Lepel, with 39 large families moving in; a de-ironing station has been put into operation in the village of Matyrino. The opening of significant social facilities was timed to coincide with Mother's Day.

A Big Event for a Small Village

For a long time, the 250 residents of the village of Matyrino, Lepel district, experienced inconvenience due to rusty water flowing from public water taps and into their homes. The iron content in the water exceeded permissible concentrations by five times.

– For drinking needs, we had to bring water from natural sources, other villages, and even the city. And this is despite the fact that we paid for water regularly, – shared Anatoly Khalimonenko, a resident of the village. – We keep a large household, we have a piglet, chickens, and other livestock. In general, we live no worse than in the city; we have steam heating, we heat with a solid fuel boiler, and also a stove and a brick stove, which we light if we want to cook "babka" (a traditional dish). So we have had warmth for a long time. And now we will have quality water too.

– This is a big event for our small settlement, – noted Nadezhda Galay, head of the kindergarten and deputy of the Bobrovsky rural executive committee, who came to the event with the children. And although they did not yet fully understand the importance of the moment, they must continue the work started by their grandfathers and parents, and clean water is the key to the health and well-being of everyone.

The state program "Clean Water" receives special attention in our region, emphasized Vladimir Terentyev, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies. On the one hand, it is people's health; on the other hand, it is the solution of everyday problems, as excessive iron in water negatively affects the operation of washing machines and other household appliances. Since 2016, as Vladimir Vladimirovich noted, more than 100 de-ironing stations have been built in the region. By the end of the current year, 95% of rural residents of the Vitebsk region will be provided with quality water that meets all regulatory requirements, and by 2023, 96% of the population will receive quality water, while in cities this figure has reached 98%.

– Despite the global economic crisis, not a single social program has been curtailed in the Lepel region, – emphasized Igor Urban, Chairman of the Lepel District Council of Deputies, in his speech to rural residents. – This year, we are commissioning the third iron removal station (previously commissioned in the settlements of Gorki, Chereyshchina), which has provided quality water to over a thousand rural residents.

The iron removal station in Matyrino was built at the expense of budget and own funds of "VitebskoblvodoKanal".

A House Where Happiness Resides

Even the district administration, which made the decision to build a 40-apartment building for large families on M. Gorky Street in Lepel before the New Year, had doubts about its success, and there were reasons for this. But everything worked out. And the brand-new, beautiful house with full renovation, a landscaped adjacent territory, a playground, and parking was commissioned even a month ahead of schedule. The new residents – 39 large families – were handed the keys to their apartments on Mother's Day. Representatives of the regional authorities, member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, deputy of the regional Council of Deputies Yuri Derkach, and chairman of the district executive committee Mikhail Kiselevich shared this solemn moment with them.

– This is an unspeakable gift for all of us, – admitted large mother Tatyana Kozlova, accepting the symbolic key from the hands of the director of the general contractor, Lepel PMK-75, Anatoly Lameko. – Having your own housing is the well-being of every family. We are immensely grateful to the state and the district administration for the opportunity to use family capital for housing construction. The dream of our family, like many others, has come true.

Another large family mother, Anna Lyakhova, received a three-room apartment. The family has four boys and is expecting their fifth child. The eldest, Gleb, who is 7.5 years old, is overjoyed with his own apartment in the center of Lepel. Previously, they lived in commercial housing in the village of Mezhytsa, which is 20 km from the district center. Now Gleb plans to attend various after-school clubs with his friends. The family has already bought furniture and is ready to move to the city next weekend.

Among the happy new residents are the Markus and Malashenko large families, each with three children, and many others who, along with their parents and grandmothers, were making plans for the future in their new apartments on this day.

– May happiness settle in this house, – wished the new residents the chairman of the district executive committee, Mikhail Kiselevich.

In the Vitebsk region, 824 large families received apartments in nine months (compared to 529 for the same period last year). With the commissioning of the 40-apartment building in Lepel, the waiting list for housing for large families has decreased by a third.
