In the Liozno district, on the border with Russia, measures to prevent forest fires have been strengthened

August 5, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. In the Liozno district, on the border with Russia, measures to prevent forest fires have been strengthened. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the acting head of the department for forest protection and conservation, hunting and hunting tourism of the Vitebsk Production Forestry Association (PLHO), Aleksei Shaposhnikov. The forest guard has intensified patrolling of the Zhadenovsky moss swamp and peatlands. The reason for strengthening the measures was a fire in the swamp of the Rudnya forestry in the Smolensk region - three kilometers from the Belarusian-Russian border. The smell of smoke is felt throughout the Liozno district. "In order to prevent the spread of the fire to the territory of Belarus, the Vitebsk PLHO is establishing contact with the Russian forestry and duty services to determine the size of the fire's focus, the degree of its threat, and to discuss the measures being taken to extinguish the fire," Aleksei Shaposhnikov emphasized. As of today, the situation with forest fires in the Vitebsk region remains under control. The third degree of fire hazard (medium) persists in the northwestern part of the region. A ban on visiting forests has been introduced in the Vitebsk, Liozno, Dubrovno, Polotsk, Senno and Tolochin districts. In addition, due to high air temperatures, a decision was made to postpone the opening of the hunting season for waterfowl and marsh game, which was scheduled to begin on August 7. -0-
