A chapel was opened in the Liozno district on the site of the former Stasevskaya Church in honor of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos

В Лиозненском районе открыли капличку на месте бывшей Стасевской во имя Покрова Пресвятой Богородице церкви
In the agro-town of Stasevo, Liozno district, a chapel was opened on the site of the former Stasevo Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, and certificates of gratitude were awarded for a significant personal contribution to the revival of spirituality in the Liozno district to all who participated in the construction of the memorial site.

The church, in memory of which the chapel was opened today, had a difficult fate. It was built in 1860 and was a wooden building on a stone foundation with two domes and 5 bells. After the revolution of 1917, the history of the church began to inexorably come to an end. In June 1922, 15 silver items weighing 1.9 kg were confiscated from the church to raise funds for the starving Volga region. At the end of the 1930s, the church was closed. Local old-timers recall that during the war, horses were kept in the church. After the war, it was dismantled, a medical center was made from the logs, and later an office and a stable.

– The place where we are opening the chapel today is truly sacred and significant. Nearby is the civilian cemetery and the only cemetery of officers in Belarus. Now, everyone who comes here to commemorate their ancestors, and the residents of the agro-town, have a place to kneel and pray, – noted Vladimir Terentyev, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies.

For the work done in the construction of the chapel, Vladimir Terentyev personally thanked and presented a certificate from the district executive committee and the Council of Deputies to the inspirer of the project and director of Vitebskiye Travy LLC, Sergey Sedukov. After that, Sergey Zemchenok, Chairman of the Liozno District Executive Committee, presented certificates for a significant personal contribution to the revival of spirituality in the Liozno district to Andrey Sidorov, director of the private enterprise Mashinostroitelnaya Kompaniya Vitebskiye Podemniki, and the heads of peasant farms Rodnichok and Aromafiora, Yuri Semenov and Vadim Sedukov.

The event concluded with the consecration of the chapel. To consecrate the memorial site, the rector of the Holy Assumption Cathedral, Archpriest Mikhail Martinovich, and the dean of the Liozno deanery, Priest Vyacheslav, were invited.
