Liozno celebrated the 90th anniversary of the district newspaper

В Лиозно отпраздновали 90-летний юбилей районной газеты
Liozno celebrated the anniversary of the district newspaper "Sіаg peramogі". What it all started with and what makes the publication attractive now, was found out by a correspondent of "VV".

The first issue of the printed publication, which tells about the life of the district, saw the light on August 18, 1931. Georgy Minchukov became its editor. The name of the newspaper corresponded to the spirit of the times – "Leninski sіаg". The local press wrote about the life and daily routines of the residents of Lioznenshchyna, their labor successes and achievements in fulfilling the plans of the first five-year plans, widely covered cultural transformations and the fight against illiteracy. Weekly, through the newspaper, the residents of Liozno learned the latest news and observed the formation of the socialist system.

Only during the period of the German-fascist occupation, from the end of June 1941 to the autumn of 1943, the newspaper was not published in its usual volume, it was issued as a leaflet. But as soon as Liozno was liberated on October 10, 1943, the activity of the "district newspaper" was restored. Sergey Sviridov was entrusted with the position of editor. The printed publication agitated people for the speedy restoration of the national economy destroyed by the war. The heroes of the publications were yesterday's front-line soldiers, youth, leading workers, and ordinary laborers. The newspaper received its current name – "Sіаg peramogі" – in 1963. At that time, the spouses Leonovs worked in the editorial office – Valentin and Lydia, he as editor, she as proofreader. At the end of 1966, Evgeny Dudkin was hired as a photojournalist, who for forty years not only took pictures but also wrote for the "district newspaper".

The heyday of "Scyag peremogi" (Victory Banner) occurred in the mid-70s to early 80s. At that time, the newspaper began to be published almost daily, except for Mondays. In 1981, for its achievements in journalism and in connection with the 50th anniversary of the first issue, "Scyag peremogi" was awarded a Certificate of Honor of the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR. The newspaper repeatedly won various regional and republican creative competitions, and was recognized with certificates and diplomas. Lyudmila Pokholkina, who later worked there for over three decades, from 1977 to 2009, as a correspondent, head of department, and editor-in-chief, succeeding Viktor Mogilny, began her career as a future journalist at the Liozno district newspaper, first as a young correspondent and then as a student intern from the journalism faculty and its graduate. Elena Retneva, the current head of the editorial team, also gained the necessary experience in publishing a regional media outlet at "Scyag peremogi," having previously worked for ten years as the deputy editor-in-chief. Today, under her sensitive leadership, the newspaper continues the traditions of its predecessors, covering the life of the Liozno region, telling stories about its people and events.

Although the current information space has changed significantly over 90 years and newspapers have to compete with other media resources, the district newspaper is still loved and read by the residents of Liozno. It is not surprising that many subscribers came to congratulate the newspaper during the anniversary celebration.

A concert was organized for the staff of "Scyag peremogi" at the Liozno House of Culture, featuring songs, poems, and congratulations addressed to the district newspaper from local organizations, creative groups, district and regional authorities, as well as newspaper veterans.

The Chairman of the District Executive Committee, Sergey Zemchenok, expressed his love for "Scyag peremogi," wished the staff to remain as creative, and praised them for creating an electronic version of the newspaper, which is popular among locals living outside the district.

Anatoly Gutsulyak, Deputy Head of the Main Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee, awarded Angela Mogilevits and Tatyana Ignatenko, employees of the editorial office, with Certificates of Honor of the Department. He also noted that the "district newspaper" occupies a worthy place among regional media, praised it for self-sufficiency, and conveyed the words of Vladimir Terentyev, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, who praised "Syag Peramogi" for its close cooperation with the District Council of Deputies.

The work of the young journalists of the newspaper was recognized by the regional organization of the Belarusian Association of Journalists, whose chairman Alexander Klitsunov presented Fyodor Postoyalkin with a certificate and a monetary gift, and also wished his colleagues creative success and grateful subscribers.
