In small towns of the Vitebsk region, 26 new enterprises and production facilities were created in the first half of the current year, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Economy Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. The Surazh forestry enterprise has started producing flight blanks for euro-pallets, the private sewing production "Anteneia Prime" has started operating in Dubrovno, and woodworking has been established in Disna. A trial batch of foam concrete blocks produced in the settlement of Vetrino by the enterprise "InvestPolotsk" is undergoing certification and hygienic registration. In total, Br137.3 billion of investments were mastered in the region in the first half of the current year, or 58.8% of the annual target, and over 200 projects are being implemented. Among them are large-scale projects such as the reconstruction of the refrigeration system at the Glubokoye Dairy and Canning Plant and the construction of a metalworking shop at the Kokhanovo plant "Beltuboplast". The preparatory stage of the project for the construction of a dolomite production line for the glass industry at the joint-stock company "Dolomit" in the small town of Ruba is being completed. At the same time, the implementation of 55 projects has not begun due to a lack of funding. Two-thirds of the new production facilities planned to be opened in small towns have also not yet been implemented. In the Vitebsk region, 40 settlements are included in the State Program for the Development of Small Towns. They are home to 263,000 people, or every fifth resident of the region. For 2009, the implementation of 260 investment projects with an investment volume of Br233.4 billion is planned in small towns.
