The Vitebsk region Media Center hosted the republican information and educational campaign "Roads of Courage and Resilience: Emulating Heroes"

Knowing their heroes will allow Belarusians to lay a good foundation for the future. This was stated at a dialogue platform in the Vitebsk Oblast media center by Marina Novitskaya, Head of the Main Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Oblast Executive Committee. The meeting at the media center was one of the stages of the republican information and educational campaign "On the Roads of Courage and Resilience: Emulating Heroes." The main speakers at the event were Marina Novitskaya, Head of the Main Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Oblast Executive Committee, Rostislav Timofeyev, Associate Professor of the Department of History and Cultural Heritage of Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov, and Elena Movsesyan, head of the "Honorary Citizens of Vitebsk" museum.

"This campaign is so extensive on the eve of Independence Day because we want to once again draw the attention of our citizens to the heroes who live among us. After all, we walk along streets and avenues named after Krylov, Bagration, Bogatyrev, but not everyone can answer who these people were – heroes, composers, or scientists. It is important for us to focus on this topic so that people who have left their mark on the history of a settlement, city, region, or republic are important to the residents of the region," said Marina Novitskaya.

Heroes of the Soviet Union, Socialist Labor, the partisan movement and anti-fascist underground, participants of the Great Patriotic War, as well as individuals with state awards, and ordinary workers – everyone who made a significant contribution to the Victory, and then to the restoration and development of the state, was remembered at the regional media center. "For me, a patriot is pride in one's country. We are proud of the people who defended the Fatherland for the sake of peaceful skies overhead, worked in production, in medicine, and were mentors," said the head of the department. "If we know their stories and are proud of them, then we will clearly understand that we can indeed lay the foundation for future development."

The Republican information and educational campaign "On the Roads of Courage and Resilience: Aligning with Heroes" started in June 2022. The campaign is held on the eve of Belarus Independence Day. This time it is dedicated to the 79th anniversary of the country's liberation from the Nazi invaders.

Dialogue platforms worked in two stages. The first took place in districts, the second already has regional status - it is held at the level of regions and in the capital. Participants recall the natives of the country, whose patriotism, strength of spirit, labor and personal feats have become a symbol of the nationwide resistance to fascism.
