A meeting between representatives of the regional executive committee and delegates of the "World Youth Festival – 2024" was held at the Vitebsk Region Media Center.
The large-scale youth event will be held by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin from March 1 to 7 in Sochi. The festival will host 20,000 Russian and foreign young leaders in business, media, culture, science, education, volunteering and charity, sports, various spheres of public life, and children's organizations. The delegation from the Vitebsk region includes 60 students and working youth representatives.
– Your task is to represent our country with dignity, – said the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Vyacheslav Durnov, in his parting words to the youth. – I am confident that you will be able to demonstrate the achievements of the region and the republic as a whole with dignity and become goodwill ambassadors among the youth of many countries. This will be a very memorable event. Participation in such an event will bring vivid impressions and leave an unforgettable mark on your lives.
The young people actively responded to the invitation to ask questions regarding their participation in the festival. They were interested in how the delegation selection process for our region took place, why the forum became larger in scale, and the impressions of its former participants.
The Head of the Main Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee, Marina Novitskaya, emphasized that the young people present were not chosen by chance – they are individuals with an active life and civic stance, patriots of their homeland, each having demonstrated themselves brightly and uniquely in their student or professional lives.
Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee Viktor Glushin, who was part of the region's delegation at the 2017 forum, noted that thanks to modern technologies, it is much easier to communicate and organize such forums today. This year, six times more applications have been submitted for the World Youth Festival than for the previous one. Forum participants can expect to meet world-class personalities, visit exciting interactive locations, and have many interesting encounters.
As the General Director of the Vitebsk Culture Center, Gleb Lapitsky, a participant of the 2017 forum, noted, the opportunity to participate in such an interesting event is a state investment in youth as the future of the country. He urged delegates to be active, participate in team projects, show imagination and a creative approach, and share their impressions and emotions upon their return.
Representatives of the regions also took part in the meeting in an online format.
The speakers wished the young men and women to be energetic, cheerful, and proactive, to show their best qualities and thereby contribute to the formation of a positive opinion about Belarus.
