The official mascot of the 2nd European Games was presented in Minsk
The organizers tried to surprise. Partly because making a first impression is very important. Partly due to the prolonged deadlines. Usually, Olympic mascots appear much earlier. The search for Lesik in the forest began more than a year ago with the announcement of a national competition. Both professional designers and ordinary sports fans could participate. They say a huge number of applications were received. All that remained was to choose and create.
Over two thousand people sent in their mascot designs for the competition. And not only from Belarus. Yesterday, during the presentation, the First Deputy Minister of Information, Pavel Legkiy, summed up the results of this competition, awarding the authors of the most interesting projects.
Very soon, the cheerful fox cub will appear in stores, including at the airport and even at gas stations. The cheapest souvenirs – magnets, pens, and keychains – will cost around two rubles. The price of exclusive, custom-made toys can reach 50 rubles. The cost of the most mass-produced versions of the mascot, according to the organizers' assurances, will be in the range of 20 to 40 rubles, making it perhaps the most affordable in history. And certainly, one of the most cheerful and friendly. This means it will surely succeed in creating the right atmosphere for the upcoming celebration. After all, emotions are what are remembered the most.
