A plant for the production of tinplate and sheet metal will appear in the Miory district
In the near future, the construction of a plant for the production of tinplate and sheet metal will begin in the Miory district. For details, "Vitebskiye Vesti" contacted the director of the project implementation company, MMPZ-Group LLC, Sergey Cheburanov.
– We plan to start preparatory earthworks at the construction site at the end of November – beginning of December, – he said. – 40 hectares of land have been allocated for the plant, approximately 2.5 km from the Miory railway station. The construction completion deadline is set for the end of 2015 – beginning of 2016, with another two years allocated for commissioning and reaching design capacity. Everything is ready for the start now.
Construction will be carried out in stages, in parallel with design. The general contractor for design is the Lithuanian engineering company MANfuLA. The equipment supplier is one of the world's leading manufacturers of metallurgical and pipe rolling equipment, SMS Group (Germany).
– Sergey Egorovich, please briefly tell us what the plant will specialize in.
– Its main product will be so-called tinplate, which is widely used today in many industries, in particular, for the production of packaging for canned goods, paints, aerosols, etc.
Today, Belarus's annual demand for tinplate is approximately 30,000 tons, and this entire volume is purchased abroad. The opening of its own plant with a capacity of 150,000 tons will not only eliminate imports but also allow a significant portion of the manufactured products to be exported. Incidentally, offers from potential buyers are already being received.
– What will the construction of the plant give to the Miory District?
– First and foremost, it will create about 500 new jobs with relatively high wages. In essence, it will be a city-forming enterprise for the district center. It is also planned to construct housing for specialists concurrently with the construction of the plant. In the first stage, ten two-story 8-apartment buildings will be constructed, and work is also intended to begin before the end of this year. In the future, a multi-story residential building is planned.
– How much will the implementation of this investment project cost?
– The estimated total cost is over 200 million euros, including expenses for both equipment and housing construction.
