Fires did occur in the Vitebsk region on New Year's Eve
The day before and the day after the New Year were truly "hot" for the rescuers of the Vitebsk region. Thus, December 31 began with a fire in the village of Chernourushye, Liozno district. Due to a crack in the chimney in the bathhouse, the roof and ceiling were destroyed, and the walls and property were damaged. Literally 40 minutes later, help was already being called for in the Verkhnedvinsk region. A fire broke out in a two-apartment house in the village of Zhiguli. Due to violations of the rules for the installation and construction of stoves, heat-generating units and devices, a fire started in a house in the village of Yurtsevo, Orsha district. And closer to the evening, a resident of the village of Dubrovo, Gorodok region, could not be saved from the fire.
Almost at 10 p.m., when many Belarusians were preparing to celebrate the New Year, a dacha house caught fire in the village of Dobreyka, Vitebsk district. Two people were carried out of the building's 2nd floor by the personnel of the Ministry of Emergency Situations units. Unfortunately, one of them did not need medical assistance.
At almost the same time, a fire broke out in a Vitebsk apartment (on Maxim Gorky Street). The owner was managed to be evacuated from there. The suspected cause is carelessness while smoking by the owner in a state of intoxication.
There were also night fires in the villages of Zubarevichi, Orsha district, and Dvor Zhary, Ushachi district, and in the urban settlement of Ushachi itself. In the latter case, the brother of the homeowner, who lived in a garage converted into a living space, died. He was carried out of the fire by security guards, but the victim was already dead.
