Novolukoml celebrated the half-century anniversary of the country's largest power plant
Anatoly Linevich, Aide to the President of the Republic of Belarus – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region, Nikolai Sherstnev, Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Viktor Karankevich, Minister of Energy, Pavel Drozd, General Director of Belenergo State Production Association, Mikhail Luzin, General Director of Vitebskenergo RUP, and other officials, as well as energy workers from different regions of the country, came to share the holiday with the enterprise's employees.
Before the start of the ceremony, which took place at the Palace of Culture of Novolukoml, an opening ceremony was held for a rental house for the GRES employees. Previously, it was a dormitory that was rebuilt into comfortable apartments with all amenities. Future residents received the keys to their desired living space.
Those who came to the Palace of Culture looked with interest at the exhibition stands that captured the 50-year history of Lukomlskaya GRES; many found their photos from their early working years and then received congratulations from the stage. Veterans, as well as employees who distinguished themselves in recent years, were awarded certificates of honor from the Ministry of Energy, the Regional Executive Committee, Belenergo State Production Association, Vitebskenergo RUP, and the district authorities.
A bus and cars, gifts from the Ministry of Energy, Belenergo, and Vitebskenergo, were lined up on the square in front of the Palace of Culture.
Summarizing the power plant's work over half a century, they discussed its future. Lukomlskaya GRES was, is, and will remain one of the main energy sources in Belarus. With the commissioning of the Belarusian NPP, the operating mode of the Lukomlskaya station will change, but its significance will not decrease in any way. It will be a backup facility for the nuclear power plant, and the importance of Lukomlskaya GRES will be no less than 50 years ago, when the largest power plant in the republic was built on the shore of Lake Lukomlskoye.
