In Novopolotsk, rescuers are preparing to build a pontoon bridge

In Novopolotsk, rescuers are preparing to erect a pontoon bridge across the Western Dvina River, as reported by the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Last year, the bridge across the Western Dvina River in the city was closed for reconstruction. In June 2021, rescuers erected a pontoon crossing, which was in operation until the ice freeze-up.

Employees of the Pinsk Center of the Republican Special Purpose Detachment "ZUBR" of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus have begun technical maintenance of the pontoon-bridge park for the further erection of the bridge, which will allow residents of Novopolotsk and nearby settlements to move freely to the other side of the river.

"26 pontoons, each weighing 7 tons, are planned to be erected in the near future. For the delivery and maintenance of the crossing, 14 personnel from the Ministry of Emergency Situations units, 5 vehicles from the pontoon-bridge park, ZIL-131 and KAMAZ vehicles with BMK-150 boats are involved," the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations noted.
