Society needs to foster a negative attitude towards children who do not care for their elderly parents - A. Tozik

February 17, Senno / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Society needs to form a negative attitude towards children who are indifferent to the fate of their elderly parents. This point of view was expressed today by Anatoly Tozik, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, during a reception of citizens in the Senno district, BELTA correspondent reports. The Vice-Premier noted with regret that there are still cases when children shift the care of the elderly onto the shoulders of the state. Public opinion towards such people should be intolerant, and it should be formed, first of all, by the mass media. "We must remember: as adults treat their parents, so will their grown children treat them. The health of the nation and its future largely depend on this," Anatoly Tozik said. The state directs considerable funds to support the social sphere, however, the dependent attitude must be eradicated. "The state should provide social assistance to those who really need it: disabled people, lonely elderly people. At the same time, abusing state support is unacceptable," Anatoly Tozik emphasized. -0-
