The third street workout site in the Vitebsk region has been opened in Orsha
– Belarus is rightly considered a sports country. People's health and the development of physical culture are priority areas of social policy, – noted Viktor Kolochov, Deputy Chairman of the Orsha District Executive Committee, at the grand opening of the facility. – And the Year of Small Motherland doubly inspires good deeds and achievements. The opening of this facility will provide an additional impetus for the youth of Orsha to engage in physical culture, and for some, it will be a start in big sports.
The charitable social project "Street Workout" for the development of modern sports grounds for children and youth in Belarus has been implemented as part of the movement for a healthy active lifestyle since 2014. The Orsha facility is the sixteenth.
Aleksey Myshko, head of the NGO "Street Workout Federation," assured the young residents of Orsha that this type of active recreation is accessible to everyone.
– To start, you can train on parallel bars or pull-up bars, which are available in almost every courtyard, – said the multiple national champion. – All you need is the desire. And on facilities like the one opened today, skills are improved and honed. This amateur sport began to develop and be supported in Belarus not so long ago. And we want every city to have modern facilities for it.
At the demonstration performances, 17-year-old Daniil Kolmak from Orsha, a student at the Vysoki Agricultural College, demonstrated his skills along with a group of capital city street workout athletes.
– At school, I couldn't do a single pull-up, – says the young man. – My physical education grades were zero. Then I accidentally stumbled upon a video online that motivated me. It was a challenge to myself: "If these guys can do it, why can't I?". I started training on my own – I went to the pull-up bars every day. And now I've been in this sport for 5 years, which has given me self-confidence and rid me of many complexes. The main thing is willpower and desire.
