The XXV International Festival of Folk Music and Song "Baran'ski Muzyki" was held in Orsha.

For the 25th time, the Orsha region hosted the participants of the international festival of folk music and song "Baran musical evenings". This year, the city Palace of Culture "Orsha" became its venue.

– Unfortunately, due to the complex epidemiological situation, not all invited participants could come, – said Ekaterina Labuko, director of the regional methodological center for folk art. – It is gratifying to see representatives of different regions of our country on this stage, those who found an opportunity to participate in the festival and delight with their skills in this difficult time. It is wonderful that the creative forum is comprehensively supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, and the Orsha District Executive Committee.

Welcoming the festival participants, Petr Podgursky, head of the culture department of the regional executive committee, emphasized that such events are especially needed and important now. They bring positivity and inspiration.

– It is extremely important to popularize folk art, develop and strengthen international cultural ties, and introduce people to national traditions, – said Petr Podgursky.

In turn, Viktor Kolochev, deputy chairman of the Orsha District Executive Committee, noted that the city on the Dnieper was not chosen as the cultural capital – 2022 by chance.

– Thanks to Decree No. 506, a lot has been done here to strengthen the material base of cultural institutions, – explained Viktor Kolochev. – The city Palace of Culture "Orsha" has been reconstructed, and a major overhaul of the House of Culture in Barani is currently underway. That is why it could not host the festival participants today, as it always has. Orsha has become a center of attraction for significant creative events.

For two days, participants of the "Baran'ski Muzyki" festival from the Mogilev, Minsk, and Vitebsk regions demonstrated their skills. Fiery songs and dances, instrumental performances – all on stage. And in the foyer of the Palace of Culture, masters of whistles, patchwork sewing, weaving, straw weaving, and others presented their unique works. Winners were determined in three nominations: amateur artistic creativity groups, individual performers, masters. No one left without a diploma and a good mood, and the laureates of the 1st-3rd degrees went home with valuable prizes.
