For over 10 years, open competitions in model shipbuilding have been held at the Orsha District Center for Technical Creativity of Children and Youth.

With the aim of popularizing model shipbuilding in the region and attracting the younger generation to active and useful leisure, for over 10 years, open competitions in model shipbuilding have been held at the Orsha District Center for Technical Creativity of Children and Youth "Yunga-2013". Its organizers are the Department of Ideological Work, Culture and Youth Affairs of the Orsha District Executive Committee and the district center for technical creativity. More than 60 participants from clubs of additional education institutions and city schools competed for victory on December 14. For most of the 6-12-year-old model shipbuilders, these competitions are their first, as is the honorary title of "yunga" (cabin boy) awarded to them.

The contestants' skills were evaluated in four components. The final and most responsible stage of the competition took place in the model shipbuilding laboratory – the largest in the republic among those available in centers for technical creativity of children and youth. As a result, Alexey Ustinov, Denis Bratulin, and Anna Tribel were recognized as the best novice model shipbuilders in their categories. Winners and prize-winners received well-deserved awards and valuable gifts. In the future, the "yungas" will have to defend the honor of the city team at the regional spring competitions.
