Orsha is completing the overhaul and reconstruction of the Palace of Culture

Behind the Scenes of Reconstruction

Capital repairs and reconstruction of the city Palace of Culture are being completed in Orsha. The work began in the autumn of last year in accordance with the Decree of the Head of State "On the Development of the Orsha District of the Vitebsk Region" and has already reached the home stretch. The building, once erected with almost royal scope, will soon get a second life and ultra-modern equipment, and the residents of the district center and its surroundings will get a new impetus for the development of creativity.
The history of the Palace of Culture "Orsha", by the way, one of the architectural landmarks of the city on the Dnieper, dates back to 1957. The building truly resembles a palace in appearance: snow-white columns, stucco molding, many windows - it's impressive! Previously, the facility belonged to the local flax mill, and a few years ago it was transferred to the city. And in 2019, the long-awaited transformation began, says the director of the Palace of Culture, Elena Demukh:

— This year marks exactly 25 years of my work in the field of culture, so I know very well that by the beginning of the reconstruction, the building was morally and physically outdated. Now the situation has fundamentally changed. Everyone will feel it. And 500 people are engaged in the Palace of Culture, approximately an equal number of children and adults. These are 22 creative groups, including six folk groups and one honored group - the exemplary circus studio "Arena". By the way, the Arena members will move into their own premises, the high ceiling of which will allow aerial gymnasts and acrobats to reach new heights in all senses. Finally, we will have a sewing workshop.

A huge LED screen will be installed on the stage of the large auditorium of the Orsha City Palace of Culture after reconstruction. The hall itself is designed for more than 400 seats.

The creative team of the Palace of Culture "Orsha" is probably most looking forward to the completion of the reconstruction of the large auditorium and the installation of a huge LED screen behind its scenes. Together with the stage rigging, it will occupy 40 meters. The hall itself is designed for more than 400 seats. There used to be more seats, notes Elena Demukh, but now there is excellent lighting and sound equipment - one of the most modern in the country, allowing for the creation of the highest level shows. The Palace of Culture will also feature an accessible environment, with a lift installed for people with disabilities. Special parquet flooring has been laid in the foyer for ballroom dancing enthusiasts. However, the old silumin chandeliers are a thing of the past. They have been replaced by luxurious light fixtures several meters in diameter.

Nevertheless, the Palace of Culture is, first and foremost, not about the walls, but about the people. They are eager to get back into their creative groove to do what they do best – teach and inspire. "We are proud of our students!" admits Elena Demukh, who also heads the pop song studio "Kreativ". By the way, the voices of her students can be heard today, for example, at the Minsk musical theatre "Territory of Musical" and in Italian opera...
