"Songs of Our Fathers' Youth" were heard in Orsha
The final of the regional competition of young performers of patriotic songs "Songs of the Youth of Our Fathers" was held on March 12-14 in Orsha.
The competition, the goal of which is to educate youth on the best examples of the song genre of past years, was held in the Vitebsk region for the 19th time. This year, 23 participants aged 16 to 31 (18 soloists and five vocal ensembles) from different parts of the Vitebsk region demonstrated their performing skills – Vitebsk, Orsha, Polotsk, Novopolotsk, Polotsk, Dokshitsky, Gluboksky, Orshansky, Dubrovensky, Lepelsky, Chashniksky, Shumilinsky, and Beshenkovichsky districts.
Military, patriotic, and romantic songs by Belarusian and foreign authors were performed. Participants, organizers, spectators, and the jury – headed by Elena Podolyak, director of the Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic – all noted the kind, friendly atmosphere of the competition.
The Grand Prix of the competition was unanimously awarded to Levon Kehvoyan from Novopolotsk (he performed the songs "Eh, dorogi" and "Go down, Moses" from the repertoire of L. Armstrong).
In the "Soloists" nomination, 1st place was shared by Nikolay Rasenok from Vitebsk and Dmitry Lagun from the Polotsk district. 2nd place was awarded to Andrey Chaban (Dokshitsky district) and Nikolay Kamenkov (Novopolotsk), and Vitaly Khadanyenok (Polotsk) took 3rd place.
In the "Vocal Ensemble" nomination, 1st place was taken by a duet from the Dokshitsky district – Andrey Chaban and Andrey Voronov; 2nd place – by the quartet of the folk studio of pop singing "Kreativ" (Orsha); 3rd place – by the duet of Alexander Podvitelsky and Ekaterina Matsulevich from the Rossony district.
Special diplomas and prizes were also awarded. The "For Artistry" prize went to the duet from the folk studio "Tandem" from Polotsk district – Yana Yasuchenya and Alexey Osushchenko. The "Super Hit" prize was won by Dmitry Klimansky (Lepel district), and the "Audience Choice Award" – by Evgeny Kanapelkin (Chashniki district). Sergey Dubko from Dokshitsy district received the special prize "Discovery of the Competition". The duet from Glubokoye district – Zhanna Naritsyna and Tatyana Kitova – was awarded "For the Best Performance of a Song from the War Years" for the song "Katyusha". Sergey Gutov from Orsha was recognized "For the Best Performance of a Song by Belarusian Authors", and the "Creative Debut" award went to the youngest participant – 16-year-old Elena Karpitskaya from Lepel district.
During the gala concert of the competition, participants inspiredly performed the song "Closing the Circle", reading the lyrics directly from their mobile phones. All young performers, in addition to diplomas and memorable prizes, took with them self-confidence and a desire to strive for new creative heights.
