"The Marathon of Unity" is already more than an event; it is a truly large-scale socio-cultural phenomenon in the history of modern Belarus, uniting all regions of our Motherland. This was stated by the Assistant to the Minister of Defense for Ideological Work in the Armed Forces - Head of the Main Department of Ideological Work of the Ministry of Defense, Major General Leonid Kasinsky, according to BELTA.

In Orsha, the "Marathon of Unity" program will be enriched with new projects organized by the Ministry of Defense of Belarus. Major General Leonid Kasinsky spoke about the significance of the "Marathon of Unity" and noted the contribution of the Armed Forces to the holding of this large-scale event. He noted that the "Marathon of Unity" is already more than an event. It is a truly large-scale socio-cultural phenomenon in the history of modern Belarus, uniting all regions of our Motherland.

"Of course, the Armed Forces could not fail to become part of this event. Despite all the tasks that our servicemen are currently performing, including tasks to strengthen the state border on the southern borders of the country, we plan to take part in the "Marathon" in different cities and regions of the country," said Leonid Kasinsky.

He paid special attention to the historical aspect: it was in Orsha on July 14, 1941, that a battery of rocket mortars, commanded by Captain Flerov, fired its first salvo. A powerful blow to the railway junction in Orsha, captured by the fascists, was delivered simultaneously with 112 rockets. The "Katyushas" destroyed enemy trains and a crossing over the Orshitsa River. The artillerymen disrupted the advance of enemy troops and equipment deep into the country.

"Orsha is a city that holds memories of the first salvos of the legendary "Katyushas". It is no coincidence that one of the renowned artillery units, the 51st Guards Artillery Brigade, bears the honorary title "Orshanskaya". Therefore, as part of the "Unity Marathon" in Orsha, we want to demonstrate, among other things, the beauty and power of Belarusian artillery," emphasized the Major General.

He said that townspeople and guests will be able to see samples of artillery weapons, visit career guidance sites, a parade concert by the orchestra of the Minsk Military Commandant's Office, and an exhibition of small arms and uniforms.

"We always use the opportunity to introduce the residents of the regions to the image of the modern Belarusian army, to bring and show people our educational projects aimed at preserving historical truth, and to conduct career guidance work. The venue and audience covered by the 'Unity Marathon' are ideal for these purposes, and we are glad that we can be a part of this movement," summarized Leonid Kasinsky.

As reported earlier, on December 7, a master class and a concert by the orchestra of the Military Academy of the Republic of Belarus will be held at the Palace of Culture in Barani, Orsha District. The start is scheduled for 12:00.

The military will organize several more interesting events for everyone interested at the venue near the Ice Arena, in particular, an exhibition of military equipment of the Ministry of Defense will be located here. The following will be presented: the "BelGrad" multiple rocket launcher system, the "Zenith" mobile anti-aircraft artillery complex, the "Kaiman" armored vehicle, the "Sani" mortar complex, the "Nona M1" mortar, the "Uragan" MLRS, the "Grad" MLRS, the "Dragon" light armored vehicle, the R-186 "Bogatyr-2" combined radio station, and the "Msta-B" howitzer. The venues will be open from 10:00 to 19:00.

At 15:00, another spectacular event will begin at the venue near the Ice Arena. For the first time within the framework of the "Unity Marathon" in Orsha, a parade concert by the orchestra of the Military Academy of the Republic of Belarus will be held.
