In memory of those who fell in battle in Vitebsk, flowers were laid at the Eternal Flame on Victory Square

В память о павших в боях в Витебске возложили цветы к Вечному огню на площади Победы
On the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of Belarus, the fallen in battles were honored in the Vitebsk region.

Events dedicated to the holiday were held in all districts of the region. For example, in Vitebsk, the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin, the Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies Vladimir Terentyev, representatives of local authorities, public organizations, and youth took part in the ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers at the monument to Soviet soldiers, partisans, and underground fighters on Victory Square.

— This is a holiday with good Soviet traditions, but in fact, our ancestors had to perform military service 200, 300, and even 1000 years ago. Therefore, respecting and valuing the defenders of the Fatherland is in the blood of Belarusians, — said Alexander Subbotin. — On this day, we thank the current servicemen and remember the fallen soldiers, thanks to whom we live in a free country today. This is especially relevant in the year of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the region and the country.
