At a turning point, it is unacceptable to profit at the expense of people by unreasonably raising prices - A. Lukashenko
April 25, Luninets / Alina Grishkevich - BELTA/. It is unacceptable to profit from people and unreasonably raise prices at a critical juncture. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during his visit to the Zapadny supermarket in Luninets on April 25, according to a BELTA correspondent.
This new retail outlet was commissioned in 2010, with the average monthly retail turnover here exceeding Br593 million last year. The Head of State inquired about the product range, the increase in food prices, the ratio of domestic and imported goods in the store, and the overall performance of consumer cooperative stores. As explained to the President, price increases mainly affected imported goods, and to a lesser extent, domestic ones. By the way, the main share of goods in the store, 89%, is of domestic production. The store offers more than 15,000 types of goods.
The President was informed that the Luninets district consumer cooperative holds the first place in the region's consumer cooperative system. Net profit for the past year in the trade sector of the district consumer cooperative amounted to Br2.8 billion.
Alexander Lukashenko was generally pleased with the organization of trade in Luninets and the performance of this particular retail outlet. At the same time, he said that local authorities should keep the price situation under control and prevent their unreasonable increase. -0-
