This spring, about 4,000 trees and 75,000 flowers will be planted in Polotsk

Almost 4 thousand trees and 75 thousand flowers will be planted in Polotsk this season as part of an initiative supported by European partners. The Polotsk branch of the Vitebsk Regional Union of Employers discussed how to tackle the task through joint efforts.

– Without your support, it is impossible to carry out the enormous work of greening the city, – said Sergey Leychenko, Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee, addressing the directors. He urged enterprise leaders to organize the participation of their teams in this common cause. After all, it is more pleasant to live and work in a beautiful city, and green spaces not only please the eye but also contribute to improving the environmental situation.

Last year, the Polotsk District Executive Committee approved a local environmental action plan. As part of its implementation, a project was developed to improve air quality by greening three zones and creating a nursery for green spaces at the Children's Ecological Center. This project received financial support in the amount of 50 thousand euros from the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe.

As Tatiana Kononova, Head of the Communal Department of the State Communal Unitary Enterprise "Housing and Communal Services," explained, flower seeds will be purchased, a heated greenhouse with an area of 240 sq. m will be built, and seedlings of trees and shrubs will be acquired: coniferous, deciduous, flowering, and ornamental plants.

A Youth Park will appear in Polotsk around the monument to Architect Ioann. New flowerbeds and flower gardens will be created in the area of the interchange on P. Brovka Street, complemented by a composition of trees and shrubs. Flower arrangements are planned for Euphrosinia Polotskaya Street, near the District Executive Committee, the Civil Registry Office, Freedom Square, and Skorina Avenue.
