A competition has been announced in Polotsk for the development of a city lighting and improvement concept
A competition has been announced in Polotsk for the development of a concept for the city's lighting and improvement. As reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Polotsk District Executive Committee, several urban spaces are proposed for design: the historical center, the Zadvine district, the Airport district, and the entrances to Polotsk.
Participants in the competition (who can be professional architects and designers, as well as graduates and students of architectural and art universities) are invited to develop original architectural ideas for illuminating building facades, designing commercial advertising, and for elements of street and park improvement, including landscaping, lighting systems, and small architectural forms. "The main creative task is to find comprehensive architectural solutions that are progressive in concept and effective in terms of financial investment, capable of modernizing and harmonizing the spatial environment of Polotsk, taking into account modern functional and aesthetic requirements," the district executive committee noted. The number of competition projects submitted by each author or team of authors is not limited.
The open architectural competition, organized by the State Enterprise "Housing and Communal Services of Polotsk," aims to attract the creative forces of architects to search for interesting conceptual ideas for creating a new architectural image and a comfortable and aesthetic urban environment for Polotsk.
Project proposals for changing the appearance of streets and squares will be accepted at the district executive committee from May 18 to May 29. The winners of the creative competition will be announced in mid-June of the current year. The authors of the best works will receive diplomas and cash prizes. The winning projects will be presented to the city's public for discussion and recommended for implementation.
