The republican motor rally "Symbol of Unity" has started in Polotsk
The traditional event, which this year was initiated by the Republican Public Association "Patriots of Belarus" and the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, began in ancient Polotsk not by chance. The Belarusian state originated in these lands, and the city became a symbolic starting point for the motor rally.
Representatives of the district authorities, public associations and trade unions, and many city residents gathered on Freedom Square. Before the start of the motor rally, the Polotsk Honored Amateur Theater "Pilgrim" performed the play "Kurgan of Immortality," dedicated to one of the main local historical sites, where the main city actions and events are traditionally held. This monument, which contains soil from all the fraternal graves of Belarus, was erected in 1966.
During the theatrical performance, participants of the event were told about the fierce battles that took place on the Polotsk land. The city was liberated by Soviet troops on July 4, 1944. It took more than 20 years to restore ancient Polotsk. The residents of the district center pay tribute to the post-war generation, who are proud of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers who won the Great Victory.
Polotsk became the first in a series of Belarusian district centers, in each of which the participants of the car rally will take a symbolic part. These parts will then be assembled into a single mechanism - a clock.
Along the entire route of 7 thousand km, banners will be installed and military burial sites will be digitized with QR code plates, which will indicate not only general information about the memorial site but also leave memories of war participants. "We would like all residents of Belarus to join this mission. There are more than 40 thousand memorial sites in our country, and we cannot digitize them all on our own; we need your help here," noted Anna Kharuta, Deputy Chairman of the Public Association "Patriots of Belarus". She also said that the representatives of their republican public association want to communicate with local residents in the districts, learn about their problems, ideas, and initiatives. Anna Kharuta emphasized that such events provide an opportunity to be convinced that there are many true patriots in the country, they love their Motherland and want to help it become even better and brighter.
The participants of the motorcade will visit the district centers of the Vitebsk region, and then the residents of the Grodno, Brest, Gomel, Mogilev and Minsk regions will join the action of unity and historical memory.-0-
