In Polotsk, everyone is invited to the "Night Ski Track"
The idea of the event, which was actively supported by the district leadership, belongs to the Polotsk physical culture and sports club "Pridvinye". Its director, Alexey Vanko, said:
— The "Night Ski Track" quest is a race exciting in its dynamics, to which we invite everyone. We can already say that more than a hundred enthusiasts have shown interest. They will start from the monument "Partisan's Oath" and finish near the sign in honor of border guards of all generations on the embankment opposite the St. Sophia Cathedral. Interestingly, in addition to standard skis, the equipment will include headlamps. The competitive style will be free, the race format will be mass start.
To help the skiers, there will be a map-scheme indicating historically interesting objects in the territory of the Park named after the 50th Anniversary of Soviet Power (near the Mound of Immortality). They will need to take a selfie at each of them. Also, at the task points, participants will be able to find certain letters to assemble the phrase "Peace and Creation" from them at the end of the event.
The organizers of the event were the Polotsk district trade union association, the district organization of the NGO "BRSM", the education department of the Polotsk District Executive Committee, the district organization of the ROO "Belaya Rus", and the FSK "Pridvinye".
There is enough snow for the race to be a success, the organizers assured. Excellent weather, and forecasters promise a slight minus, will also set everyone in a sporty and positive mood. Both beginners and true "connoisseurs" of snowy trails will be able to feel the romance of evening ski walks, enjoy the winter nature and improve their health. The emotions and impressions from the "Night Ski Track" will be unforgettable, promises Alexey Vanko:
— But we have also taken care of a pleasant reminder. Participants will be presented with a badge with the event logo at the finish line. You won't freeze! Hot tea from the Polotsk regional organization of the Belarusian Red Cross Society awaits everyone, as well as a group photo in the light of lanterns: against the backdrop of our cultural, spiritual, and tourist gem – St. Sophia Cathedral.
