The first regional forum of working rural youth was held in the Polotsk district
Engineers, agronomists, economists, veterinarians, teachers, cultural workers, and representatives of other professions gathered together to communicate, unite, and develop approaches for successful progress.
- We consider the forum as a platform for generating new ideas, exchanging opinions, achievements, and methodologies. The Youth Union is ready to support the guys in implementing their proposals locally, – said Vyacheslav Khrol, First Secretary of the Regional Committee of the BRSM.
Polotsk, according to him, was not chosen as the venue by chance. The city, from which Belarus began, is rich not only in historical heritage – it was one of the first youth capitals of the republic, and many unique projects are being implemented here, the experience of which can be borrowed.
Pyotr Gnutenko, Deputy Head of the Main Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee, noted that the authorities have recently been paying increasing attention to improving youth policy. For young people to continue living and working in rural areas, it is important to create comfortable conditions for their work, leisure, and daily life, and to expand opportunities for self-realization. The forum is designed to identify current problems and help solve them, to show the significance of agricultural professions both for the young people themselves and for society as a whole; it is one of the forms of finding constructive solutions to respond to the challenges of the time.
The hosts prepared an intensive program for the guests, including thematic classes, team-building games, and presentations of branded projects of the Polotsk region. Divided into four groups, the participants learned about the work of agricultural enterprises "Vesna-Energo", "Novye Goryany", "Kushliki", visited rural schools and houses of culture, and took excursions to St. Sophia Cathedral, the Holy Euphrosyne Monastery, the Polotsk Collegium, and the Museum of Belarusian Book Printing.
The forum participants laid flowers at monuments and military graves, and then joined the patriotic campaign "For the Glory of the Common Victory". The program concluded with an impressive presentation of the branded youth project "We are in the know!", where teams from JSC "Polotsk-Steкловолокно", the agro-town of Novye Goryany, a military unit, and the agricultural production lyceum presented their vibrant business cards.
– Everything was very positive and informative, – shared Andrey Kulyabkin, a teacher from the Surazh kindergarten – secondary school of the Vitebsk region. – Polotsk residents have something to learn from. We had interesting conversations with colleagues, exchanged impressions and contacts. Thanks to the regional executive committee and the regional committee of BRSM for the excellently organized event; such forums should be held more often.
