A Church of St. George the Victorious is being built in the Polotsk district with charitable funds
Construction of an Orthodox church in honor of Saint George the Victorious has begun in the agro-town of Gomel, Polotsk district, funded by donations from citizens and organizations of the region.
"God always hears our prayers and fulfills everything that a person truly needs," with these words, Archbishop Feodosiy of Polotsk and Glubokoye, who led the prayer service before the good deed, addressed the parishioners. The chairman of the Polotsk District Executive Committee, Nikolai Shevchuk, was present at the ceremony and took part in laying the capsule into the foundation of the church under construction.
Currently, 1247 people live in the Gomel village council, and 313 people live in the agro-town itself.
_We decided to build our own church so that believers would have a place to confess, take communion, and reflect on life,_ said Alexander Grishchenko, a deputy of the village council and head of the scientific and production association "Project-Concept." He is one of the organizers of the construction, initiated jointly with the former chairman of the village executive committee, Nikolai Babich, who recently passed away.
The church will be wooden, and its construction is planned to be completed by the end of the year. The general contractor is OOO "Vittorgservice."
