Orsha region leads in the sowing campaign of the Dvina region

Spring sowing continues in the fields of the region. Farmers still need to complete a quarter of the task approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the country. Approximately a quarter of the rapeseed fields, 70 percent of the corn fields need to be sown, half of the potatoes and the same amount of vegetables need to be planted, and the final touch needs to be put on the flax acreage. At the same time, reseeding of winter crops that have died is underway. Out of 20 thousand hectares rejected, 5 thousand have been reseeded with spring crops so far. However, undersowing of perennial grasses has been carried out on 90 percent of the occupied areas and is nearing completion.
— The undisputed leader of the spring sowing campaign is the Orsha district. 90 percent of the 31 thousand hectares allocated for spring crops have been sown there. Agricultural enterprises of the Vitebsk district have approximately the same area to develop, but they are 20 percent behind the Orsha district. Among the best districts in terms of spring sowing pace, along with Orsha, I would name Dubrovno, Gorodok, Chashniki, and Glubokoe districts, where a high level of labor organization is noted and the best agro-technical deadlines will not be missed, — reported Alexey Turkov, head of the department of land cultivation, crop production, and fodder production of the regional agricultural production department.
