A day care center for the elderly is opening in Postavy. Currently, there are about 11,000 pensioners in the district. That is, every third resident of Postavy is retired.

To add color to the lives of pensioners and diversify their leisure activities, an important social project has been jointly implemented here. Diana Pekarskaya, Director of the Postavy Territorial Center for Social Services for the Population, says: "The reconstruction and repurposing of the building, which was previously a production and technical facility, required over a billion rubles. We were able to raise a large part of the sum ourselves through extra-budgetary activities, significant funds were allocated by the district executive committee, the social protection fund, and sponsors also participated in this good deed. As a result, we have not only created comfortable conditions for our clients but also made the facility a true cultural, educational, and health improvement center. Thus, a large green zone with a garden and berry patches has appeared on the territory of the center. In total, about 300 plants have been planted here, including blueberry bushes, various thuja trees, apple trees, pear trees, cherry trees, and currant bushes. The social center has its own gym, assembly hall, and computer room, a hydro-massage pearl bath, manual and chair massagers, and even a guest room. In the 'mini-hotel,' equipped with its own kitchen, elderly couples who cannot afford to go to a sanatorium for a vacation will be able to stay for 3-5 days.

In addition to health procedures at socially low prices, they will be offered an excursion program to the historical places of Postavy region. The organizers do not exclude that, in addition to the residents of Postavy themselves, residents of neighboring districts will also use the services of the guest room. And also – foreigners who want to get to know the Postavy region better. Moreover, the territorial center closely cooperates with colleagues from Sweden, Latvia and Lithuania, is currently participating in an international project and is applying for a grant. Diana Pekarskaya clarifies: – Winning the competition is quite realistic. We have already passed a difficult preliminary selection. So we hope that with the help of UNDP we will be able to equip our conference room with a video camera. These innovations will help our wards communicate with foreign peers "face to face".

In addition, three unusual local projects will be launched in the new day care department (its area is about 340 square meters). Together with Postavy enterprises and organizations. Thus, a private beauty salon will teach "students of the academy of the third age" not to forget about their beauty, a gerontologist from the Central District Hospital will conduct lessons in the health school, and "Belarusbank" will take on the elimination of computer and information illiteracy. Specialists will introduce pensioners to the novelties of the preferential credit market and help them master new technologies, including working with internet banking. By the time of the grand opening, which will take place tomorrow, three groups of this unusual "club of interests" have already been recruited.
