Within the framework of the XI International Economic Forum in Vitebsk, issues of cooperation with Arkhangelsk were discussed

An official delegation from the city of Arkhangelsk visited Vitebsk as part of the XI International Economic Forum. During the visit, guests were given a tour of "Dukhovskoy Kruglyk", and negotiations on the development of cooperation between the cities were held in the exhibition hall.

 

– This meeting emphasizes the importance of economic relations. Vitebsk and Arkhangelsk are connected by the history of cities and countries, and cultural relations. Ideas, plans, and prospects for cooperation have already been defined, as there are many points of contact. In particular, this year Vitebsk and Arkhangelsk will celebrate their city days simultaneously. On this occasion, delegations from twin cities will visit the regional center and the northern district, – noted the Chairman of the City Executive Committee, Nikolay Orlov.

Besides the fact that Vitebsk is the northernmost region of Belarus, and Arkhangelsk is considered the capital of the Russian Arctic, the cities are similar in architecture and population size: 350 thousand people live in the city on the Dvina River, and 360 thousand in Arkhangelsk.

– Our ties are already quite strong and robust. Over the past year or two, trade turnover between the Arkhangelsk region and Belarus has increased several times. We actively interact and continue to build up our partnership, developing economic and cultural ties, – emphasized the head of the urban district "City of Arkhangelsk", Dmitry Morev. – It is symbolic that the acquaintance with Vitebsk began during the XI International Economic Forum "Innovations. Investments. Prospects". Arkhangelsk features a wide range of Belarusian-made goods, from light industry to food products. The delegation will study the products presented by manufacturers not only from the northern region but from the entire country. Contacts have already been established with some enterprises, which will allow for the development of economic partnerships, including in the acquisition of special equipment. I have noted for myself that the sports sector is highly developed in the region, and we will also work in this direction, as children are our future.

During the grand opening of the XI International Economic Forum, an agreement on cooperation between Vitebsk and Arkhangelsk was signed.
