A 10-year-old teenager died as a result of a shed collapse in the Rossony district

A 10-year-old boy, a fifth-grader, died as a result of a shed collapse in the Rossony district, the propaganda and training center at the Vitebsk regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations informed a BELTA correspondent. The tragedy occurred on a private farmstead in the village of Krasnopolye. According to eyewitnesses, the boy went into the shed for firewood, and after he started chopping it, the structure collapsed. Employees of the Rossony Department for Emergency Situations pulled the child out from under the debris; doctors confirmed his death. The mother of the deceased, an employee of a local agricultural enterprise, was at work at the time. The plank shed, measuring 4 by 6 meters with a slate roof, was being dismantled: the wall sheathing was missing, and the walls themselves were almost completely disassembled. The preliminary cause of the tragedy is considered to be a violation of the structural integrity of the building during dismantling, which led to the loss of load-bearing capacity of the building's frame elements. The prosecutor's office of the Rossony district is conducting an investigation into the death of the teenager. -0-
