Over 2.5 thousand people are vacationing in Vitebsk region sanatoriums, service exports are growing

The off-season this year has had almost no impact on the operations of the sanatorium-resort organizations in the Vitebsk region. As of today, occupancy is over 83 percent. Demand for health improvement services among residents of neighboring countries remains high. Among the vacationers are almost 500 foreigners.

Larisa Vasilyeva, Deputy Head of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population, notes:

– Children's sanatoriums are operating at almost one hundred percent capacity. "Zhemchuzhina" hosts about 600 children living in the Chernobyl zone. Young patients from all regions of Belarus come to "Rosinka". The capacity of this health resort is almost 300 people. The departmental sanatoriums "Naftan" and "Zhelezhnodorozhnik" are fully booked, and they accommodate not only Belarusians but also Russians. The "Plissa" sanatorium-resort complex is also in demand among foreigners. Currently, two-thirds of the vacationers here are citizens of the Russian Federation.

The "Borovoe" and Lepel Military sanatoriums are not yet operating at full capacity; they have time for a break, carrying out repair work, and more thorough preparation for the spring-summer peak season. Nevertheless, each of them currently hosts 40-50 foreigners undergoing sanatorium-resort treatment, including residents of Latvia.
