A calf shed caught fire in the Sharkovshchina district due to the burning of dry grass

On March 14, 2015, at approximately 13:00, Sharkovshchina District Emergency Situations Department received a report of a fire in an unoccupied building in the village of Zhuki Gorniye, Sharkovshchina District.

Rescuers who arrived at the scene observed open burning of the roof of a calf house and dry vegetation near the farm.

The brick building, owned by OJSC "Knyazh", housed 70 calves aged 3 to 9 months and two employees.

Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and OJSC "Knyazh" carried out and evacuated all the calves from the smoke-filled area. The fire was completely extinguished within an hour.

The main suspected cause of the fire is careless handling of fire during the burning of dry vegetation. The damage and the identity of the person who was burning the grass are being established.

As a result of the fire, 150 square meters of the calf house roof were destroyed, and 100 square meters of ceiling and 80 square meters of roof were damaged.
