A 32-bed nursing care unit has been opened at the Shumilino Central District Hospital

В Шумилинской центральной районной больнице открыли отделение сестринского ухода на 32 койки
The Shumilino Central District Hospital hosted the grand opening of a nursing care unit with a capacity of 32 beds. The event was attended by the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, Natalya Kochanova, who familiarized herself with the material and technical base of the new unit and communicated with its residents.

During her visit, Natalya Kochanova answered questions from hospital staff, discussing important topics such as deferment from military service for students pursuing higher education after graduating from medical colleges, the situation at Belarus's borders, the retention of young specialists in their workplaces, the electoral campaign, and much more.

The chief physician of the Shumilino Central District Hospital, Svetlana Linkevich, explained that the unit is intended for elderly individuals living alone who have partially or fully lost the ability to care for themselves and move around. She noted that the unit's uniqueness lies in its location within the round-the-clock inpatient facility, which allows for prompt and high-quality medical care.

Currently, there are 20 patients in the unit, the oldest of whom is an 88-year-old resident. Svetlana Linkevich emphasized that over the past three years, the Shumilino Central District Hospital has made significant progress in strengthening its material and technical base. In 2021, the central polyclinic was completely renovated, and work was also carried out in the therapeutic, neurological, and intensive care units.

The hospital plans to continue renovation work, including the planned renovation of the pediatric unit for 2025.

The nursing care department has also been created with a barrier-free environment in mind, allowing patients to go for walks in the fresh air independently. In addition, the department provides facilities for patients to meet with their relatives, which helps maintain important social connections.
