A wood processing line was launched at the Surazh forestry, and the reconstructed building of the Zapolye forestry was opened.
When last year the forestry workers wrote off the old lumber production machine for disposal, the issue of employment of staff in the Surazh woodworking shop arose. For the residents of the urban settlement, this enterprise is associated with stable work and high earnings. Then it was decided to invest own funds in modernization in order to retain staff. In a short time, the premises where the new Lithuanian "Diametras" line is installed have been transformed. Major repairs have been carried out, electrical equipment has been replaced, and asphalt has been laid on the territory.
The opening of the new shop took place in a solemn atmosphere. The chairman of the regional executive committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, and the leadership of the Vitebsk region attended this event. This is an important event for the urban settlement. More than 40 able-bodied residents work in the shop, and there are 230 people in the Surazh Forestry, all of whom mainly live in Surazh.
The head of the region meticulously delved into the figures announced by the General Director of Vitebsk GPLKHO, Yuri Zablotsky. In particular, how quickly the line will pay off – within five years. What are the revenue and profitability? After the old machine was written off, the woodworking shop increased the output of export products – briquettes and debarked stakes. Thus, for seven months of the current year, the revenue from sold products amounted to 1590 thousand rubles (for the same period last year – 995 thousand rubles), and profitability increased from 11.5 to 20.1 percent.
What are the prospects? On the new line, the Surazh residents plan to produce sawn timber from coniferous and deciduous species in the volume of 7.3 thousand cubic meters per year, with a profitability of 12%, and receive an annual additional income of 3.5 thousand rubles.
Incidentally, another pleasant event for the employees of the Surazh forestry was the opening of the reconstructed building of the Zapolsky forestry, which was attended by villagers and students of the local school.
