New livestock facilities have opened in the Tolochin and Orsha districts
The fourth stage of the "Zelenaya" MTP of the Tolochin Rayagorservice has been commissioned. The complex was considered a long-term construction project, but thanks to the joint efforts of the regional and local authorities, its final construction has been completed. It consists of two cow barns, a milking and milk processing unit, a maternity ward, a calf pen, a young stock facility, and ten silage trenches. The complex can house 768 cows and 1000 cattle of various ages.
At the grand opening, the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, noted that thanks to the technological self-sufficiency of the complex, specialists, farm management, and the region should set a goal of achieving an average daily milk yield of at least 30 liters here and increasing productivity to 8-10 thousand kg of milk per cow per year. We need to aim for this figure, and then there will be results to quickly recoup the invested funds and work for the prosperity of the farm. In general, a serious re-equipment of the industry has begun in the Tolochin district.
As reported by the Chairman of the Tolochin District Executive Committee, Oleg Lyndin, in accordance with the regional development program, developed in accordance with Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 70 of February 25, 2020, the target for the growth rate of agricultural production compared to 2019 was 105.8%. For 10 months of 2020, more than 25 thousand tons of milk (growth rate 118%) and 17.3 thousand tons of meat (112%) were produced. The cattle population increased by 1.5 thousand and now stands at almost 27 thousand.
A pig farm, abandoned over ten years ago, belonging to the "Zadneprovsky" branch of OJSC "Orshansky KHP", has been transformed into the powerful "Dnepr" farm. It consists of 20 premises and is designed to house 4.5 thousand heads of cattle. Currently, "Dnepr" serves as the breeding nucleus for stocking the "Zadneprovsky" mechanized livestock farm and the under-construction robotic mechanized livestock complex in Churilovo with animals. Nikolay Sherstnev emphasized that, in essence, the facility was built through a community effort. Organizations from the Orsha region were assigned to each premise, which allowed for rapid reconstruction. Including the construction of silage trenches and landscaping, 4 million rubles were spent on modernization. For comparison, building a new farm for 2.5 thousand heads would have cost 35 million rubles. Nikolay Sherstnev noted that low production costs, which will be competitive in domestic and foreign markets, originate from such facilities. It is also important that the farm will become a kind of organic fertilizer factory. Most importantly, it has been built to a high standard, and this construction method, yielding quick results, has proven itself. In the future, the experience gained will be applied to other regions, allowing for the transformation of the agricultural sector in a short period.
Nikolay Sherstnev and the Chairman of the Orsha District Executive Committee, Igor Isachenko, presented awards to those distinguished during the construction of "Dnepr".
The opening of new facilities took place within the framework of the regional seminar on improving the efficiency of livestock production, modernization, reconstruction, and construction of farms. The plenary session held in Tolochin, in particular, discussed the results of livestock work for 10 months and set tasks for November-December. It was noted that there are significant reserves in herd growth and weight gain. In terms of updating livestock facilities, the emphasis is on reconstructing premises using own resources. This will allow for significant improvement of housing conditions for both the dairy herd and young stock with minimal costs.
