In the Tolochin district, a pensioner caught fire while burning grass

An elderly resident of the village of Zelenoe, Tolochinsky district, sustained burns of degree 1-2 on 85% of her body on March 17 while burning dry grass.

The 80-year-old pensioner was burning dry vegetation near her house, and the fire spread to her. The woman caught fire. A neighbor noticed this and called another fellow villager for help. But by the time they arrived, the grandmother had already extinguished the flames herself. The neighbors called an ambulance.

Doctors were unable to save the pensioner's life.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds of the dangers of burning dry vegetation and recommends clearing debris and grass using household tools.
