Avenues of Glory will appear in the center of Liozno, the likes of which are not found in the region
Alley of Glory in Liozno to immortalize the names of twenty heroes of war and peacetime.
Liozno residents earned funds for the project's design and estimate documentation during the district subbotnik in March. In April, old apple trees were uprooted on the territory near the district executive committee, and a fruit garden of 70 saplings was planted: 64 apple trees of different varieties and ripening periods, and six pear trees.
The Alley of Glory will be located along this garden, said the Chairman of the Liozno District Executive Committee, Ivan Lavrinovich:
– In the year of the 70th anniversary of Victory, we decided that we must immortalize the memory of our countrymen, thanks to whom the district center went through the terrible trials of war and flourished in peacetime. Memorial signs will tell about five Heroes of the Soviet Union, ten Heroes of Socialist Labor, three full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory. Honorary citizens of the city will also be honored.
The implementation of the project requires 50-52 million rubles, more than half of this amount has already been secured. The Alley of Glory will stretch for 68 meters and will be located in the very center of the city, opposite the local history museum. And nearby, in a couple of years, as in the song, apple and pear trees will bloom.
The district executive committee plans to complete the object by Independence Day, or in the worst case, by the city's liberation day, which is celebrated on October 10.
There are no analogues to the Alley of Glory, designed in the district center, anywhere else in the region. It is symbolic that it was in Liozno in the autumn of 1943 that the first banner of victory was raised in the Vitebsk region.
