A new residential block will appear in the center of Vitebsk
The city authorities plan to begin the construction of residential buildings in one of the central parts of the regional center, in the area of Truda Street, in 2016. However, the first new building on this site will likely be an office mansion of the Vitebsk branch of OJSC "Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus".
Zinaida Koroleva, Deputy Chairperson of the City Executive Committee, recently told journalists about the prospects for developing one of Vitebsk's most attractive but vacant territories, covering almost 5 hectares. According to her, there are no abandoned buildings within the boundaries of Dovatora, Razina, Truda streets, and Lyudnikov Avenue today, and the construction of the first residential building is planned to begin in 2016. As previously reported, a total of 760 apartments are planned to be built here, which will result in a microdistrict population of 4,000 people, including about 1,300 new residents. In addition, the project for the reconstruction of the former building of "Vitebskobeldorstroy" at 1-ya Dovatora Street, 3, has already been approved and is linked to the development concept of this territory. In the summer of 2014, OJSC "Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus" acquired the property at auction for a sum equivalent to almost $203,000 for its Vitebsk branch.
- The architectural design of the future bank office building is fully consistent with the concept of the block's development, - noted Zinaida Koroleva.
We remind you that among the socially significant facilities in the prospective area, the construction of a palace of water sports, a large shopping center, retail and office spaces, a sports and tourist complex, a hotel, a pharmacy, a driving range and a shooting range, as well as two-level parking lots are envisaged. The project is planned to be implemented in two stages by 2021, with the first stage scheduled until 2017 and including the construction of housing and the laying of a road along Bauman Street. This year, due to a shortage of funding, work on the site was practically not carried out.
