CEC explains how to distinguish genuine signature collectors from fraudsters

В ЦИК рассказали, как отличить настоящих сборщиков подписей от мошенников

In Belarus, the signature collection stage for the nomination of presidential candidates begins on November 7. Members of the initiative groups of potential candidates are supposed to be involved in this process, but it is possible that fraudsters may take advantage of the situation. Chairman of the Central Election Commission Igor Karpenko told journalists what genuine signature collectors must have with them, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"Firstly, we will provide information on the initiative groups, including contact details. Secondly, a signature collector must have an ID card, signed by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission and bearing the seal of the Central Election Commission. It must be laminated. It is a small card. This ID card does not have a photograph. Therefore, it is valid only when presented with an identity document," said Igor Karpenko. He advised that if a person has doubts, they should first ask the signature collector to present their ID. If doubts remain even after that, the head of the CEC advises to cease communication and not sign. However, if necessary, it is also possible to clarify information with your territorial election commission and even with the CEC.
