A "school of the future" has been opened in Verkhnedvinsk
The renovation of the educational institution was one of the key projects in preparation for the regional festival of agricultural workers "Dazhynki-2018". The school underwent a capital renovation costing Br2.3 million. This funding was used to completely renovate the school building, purchase modern educational and sports equipment, school furniture, and a new canteen. Additionally, solar collectors were installed on the roof of Secondary School No. 2 to heat water, which will help save electricity.
"Our school is equipped with the latest technology. We have acquired the necessary equipment to prepare children for their future career choices: laser engraving and milling machines, a 3D printer, and robotics. These technologies represent the future and will help students with their professional orientation. Modern educational equipment will allow us to focus on career guidance from an early age. By the 7th and 8th grades, children will have an idea of their chosen profession. A total of 500 students will study in 23 classes at the school this academic year," said Svetlana Drozdova, the principal of Secondary School No. 2.
She is confident that the updated material and technical base of the institution will become the foundation for future victories in competitions, olympiads, and sports events. The school will also benefit from donated certificates for the purchase of computer and language laboratories.
The leadership of the region attended the opening ceremony. Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev
emphasized the importance of systematic work to bring the education system of the northern region to leading positions in the country."The main thing is that not just a separate Secondary School No. 2 in Verkhnedvinsk, the school of the future, as it is called, has been updated. For several years now, targeted work has been carried out to repair and equip educational institutions in the region. This is how we create a foundation to provide students with comprehensive knowledge, and teachers with opportunities to implement their ideas for teaching and developing children's potential," noted Nikolai Sherstnev.
In total, 31 educational institutions will operate in the Verkhnedvinsk district: 13 general secondary and preschool education institutions, a center for children and youth, a socio-pedagogical center, a center for correctional and developmental education and rehabilitation, as well as two family-type children's homes. In the new academic year, 2074 students will study in general secondary education institutions in the district, and 817 children will attend kindergartens. By 2021, it is planned to create "schools of the future" in the districts of the region, which will become a kind of resource center for promoting innovations in education in the territory of the district and city. They will concentrate advanced technologies, modern equipment, and strong teachers.
